Yamaha R15S
We compared the R15 S with the latest-gen R15 V4 to find out the differences that make them stand apart from each other.The Yamaha R15S is a 155cc sports bike based on the discontinued R15 V3. It comes with a single seat and has a slightly less aggressive riding posture than the R15 V4. The R15S is the cheapest-faired Yamaha bike in India, with a good balance of performance and practicality. The bike was updated with an OBD2 emission-compliant R15 V4 engine, along with a few other updates recently. The Yamaha R15S is available in a single variant priced at Rs. 1,65,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The colour options for the bike include Matte Black and Racing Blue.
The Yamaha R15S has a 155cc liquid-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected engine that produces 18.4PS @10000rpm and 14.2Nm @ 7500rpm, paired with a 6-speed transmission. The engine is BS6.2 compliant and is compatible with E20 fuel (20 per cent ethanol and 80 per cent petrol blend), reducing emissions and cutting down on pollution.
The Yamaha R15S is built on the Deltabox frame, with a telescopic fork and a linked monoshock. The bike gets a 282mm disc brake at the front and 220mm at the back with dual-channel ABS. The R15S features a 100/80-17 tyre at the front and a 140/70R17 radial tyre at the back.The bike has a ground clearance of 170mm for tackling speed breakers and bad roads. The R15S gets a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres while the seat height measures 815mm.
The Yamaha R15S gets a single-piece seat that ensures the rider and pillion can easily get on or off the bike. The bike has an LCD instrument cluster displaying a speedometer, bar-style tachometer, odometer, clock, fuel gauge, gear position indicator and ABS warning light, among others.Other features include a dual horn and a side-stand engine cut-off function. It also gets an assist and slipper clutch for easy clutch lever action and prevents rear wheel locking when engine braking aggressively
