Postmortem report and evidence found

The trainee doctor raped and murdered at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital had extensive injuries to her body, all inflicted before death. According to the postmortem report obtained by India Today. The report also found evidence of forceful penetration, indicating sexual assault.
There are the findings of the autopsy:

Over 14 injuries were documented on the victim’s head, face, neck, arms, and genitals.
The cause of death was determined to be “manual strangulation associated with smothering”.
The manner of death was ruled as homicide.
The report indicated possible sexual assault with evidence of forceful penetration.
A “white, thick, viscid liquid” was found in the victim’s genitalia.
The report also noted hemorrhaging in the lungs and blood clots in the body, and
there were no signs of fractures.
Samples of blood and other bodily fluids were sent for further analysis.

A Kolkata Police civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was taken into custody on Saturday in connection with the brutal rape and murder of a second-year postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital. The arrest came just six hours after a seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case.

He resigned from his position as principal on August 12, three days after the incident.

14 injuries on various parts of the victim

The autopsy report of the 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered at Kolkata’s R G Kar Medical College and Hospital revealed more than 14 injuries on various parts of the victim’s body, including her head, face, neck, arms, and genitals, confirming the vicious nature of the attack.
The victim’s body showed clear evidence of sexual assault, with the autopsy revealing signs of forceful penetration. “A white, thick, viscid liquid was found inside the victim’s genitalia, further corroborating the assault,” the report stated.

The injuries documented included severe trauma to the nose, right jaw, left arm, and shoulder, indicating a violent struggle before the victim was overpowered. The autopsy also noted hemorrhaging in the lungs and the presence of blood clots, which are indicative of the extreme physical trauma suffered by the victim.

Hearing in supreme court, Kolkata Doctor Rape

Supreme court began its hearing in the case regarding the alleged rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata today. The court, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, took Suo moto cognizance of the incident on Sunday and has prioritized the matter for hearing at 10:30 am on Tuesday.

Calcutta High Court transferred the investigation to the CBI.

The court’s decision to take Suo motu cognizance of the case, titled “In Re: Alleged rape and murder incident of a trainee doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata and related issue”, This is significant as the Calcutta High Court has already transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Supreme Court may broaden the scope of judicial scrutiny, considering the ongoing nationwide protests by doctors and their concerns.

Doctors are on Strike, Kolkata Doctor Rape

The doctors’ strike, which began a week ago in response to the rape and murder of the medic, is now entering its second week, causing difficulties for patients. The protesting doctors are demanding that the CBI apprehend the culprits and that the court impose the maximum punishment on them. They also seek assurance from the government that “no such incidents occur in the future”.
