Tata Nano

Latest Update: The Tata Nano, even after many years of its discontinuation, continues to remain a popular model among people. We have hence studied the feasibility options of whether making a Nano EV makes sense for Tata.

Price: If Tata were to launch the Nano EV, an ideal pricing range would be between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9 lakh.

Range: A practical range for a Tata Nano EV in the future would have to cross the 200 km mark. Meanwhile, a retrofitted Tata Nano EV has already been developed by a Pune-based company called Electra EV, but details of range and performance have not been revealed. One unit of this Nano EV is owned by Ratan Tata himself. In comparison, the concept showcased in 2010 was predicted to offer a claimed range of up to 160 km. However, in the last 14 years, EV battery technology has become a lot more efficient and claimed range figures could easily cross 200 km.

Features: While there are currently no updates on the feature list for the Nano EV, Tata would have to offer amenities like a touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, all four power windows, semi-digital driver’s display, and manual AC.

Safety: According to today’s safety standards, the Nano EV should be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. A rear parking camera would be a welcome feature addition.

Rivals: The Tata Nano EV would be a direct rival to the MG Comet EV. If you are considering a Tata EV, you may also check out Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, and Nexon EV.
