Singer K K passes away. Mamata Banerjee extends support to singer’s family. Mr. Krishnakumar Kunnath fell ill while performing at Nazrul Mancha, Kolkata, for Gurudas College’s fest. He returned to his hotel in Esplanade and collapsed after which he was rushed to Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) at around 10:30 pm, where he was declared dead. He was 53. Condolences have been pouring in from the film and music industry.

His post-mortem is likely to take place today after getting his family’s consent

About KK

Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK, was an Indian playback singer. He recorded songs in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese and Gujarati languages. KK began his career by singing for advertisement jingles, and made his film debut with an A.R. Rahman soundtrack.

Over the span of his almost 3-decade-long career KK sang more than 500 songs in Hindi and more than 200 songs in Telugu, Bengali, Kannada and Malayalam languages.

Which song made KK famous?

KK was introduced as a playback singer with A. R. Rahman’s hit song “Kalluri Saaley” and “Hello Dr.” from Kadir’s Kadhal Desam and then “Strawberry Kannae” from AVM Productions’s musical film Minsara Kanavu (1997). He got his Bollywood break “Tadap Tadap” from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999).
