According to Gopal Vittal, CEO of Airtel, the SIMs of all the customers of the company are already enabled for 5G facility.
How much faster is 5G than 4G?
Various reports have described it as 100 times faster. However, according to Airtel, 5G will be 20 to 30 times faster than 4G. 5G is designed to deliver peak data rates of up to 20 Gbps based on IMT-2020 requirements. Its peak data rate can reach 20 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) and average data rates of 100+ megabit-per-second (Mbps). Apart from high speed, 5G is also designed to provide more network capacity.

Dr. Amit Kumar Dutta of IIT Kharagpur says that 5G is very useful for the villages of India. Large towers have to be installed in 4G, so only limited towers are installed. But in 5G there is a choice of small and big towers. If fewer people live in a village, better facilities can be provided by installing some small towers there.
Will 5G be better than the internet service provided through fiber?
