Hero Mavrick 440
The Hero Mavrick 440 is an all-new roadster from Hero MotoCorp, jointly developed with Harley-Davidson. The Mavrick uses the same engine and platform as the Harley-Davidson X440 but has a few mechanical and design changes to give it a unique identity.
Hero currently offers the Mavrick 440 in three versions: Base, Mid, and Top. The base variant is priced at Rs 1,99,000 and is only available in the Arctic White color option. The ‘Mid’ variant carries a price tag of Rs 2,14,000 and is available in two color choices: Fearless Red and Celestial Blue. The ‘Top’ variant is priced at 2,24,000 (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi) and is available in Phantom Black and Enigma Black colors.
The Hero Mavrick’s 440cc single-cylinder 2-valve engine is air-and-oil-cooled that produces 27PS @6000rpm and 36Nm @4000rpm, with 90 percent of its torque kicking in at just 2000rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission with slip-and-assist clutch. The slipper function prevents the rear wheel from locking up while hard engine braking whereas the assist function reduces the clutch lever effort for better convenience.
The Hero Mavrick boasts all-LED lighting and an LCD screen that shows a digital speedometer, a tachometer, trip meters, an odometer, and indicators for the side stand and gear position. Furthermore, the instrument panel also provides stats about real-time mileage and distance to empty.
The instrument cluster of the Mavrick 440 is also Bluetooth compatible, which enables 35 other functions, such as call and text alerts, turn-by-turn navigation, phone battery indicator, estimated time of arrival, remote tracking, among others. Some exclusive features on the Top variant include vehicle diagnosis, location sharing, roadside assistance, geo-fencing, and others, which can be accessed through the e-SIM-based Hero Connect app.
The Hero Mavrick 440 is developed on a trellis frame with a 43mm telescopic fork and a 7-step adjustable dual shock absorbers at the rear. The braking system comprises a 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear. The mid and top variants get 110/70–17 tubeless tyres at the front and 150/60–17 at the back (both alloy wheels), while the base variant gets spoke wheels with tubed tyres of the same size.
In terms of proportions, the Hero Mavrick 440 gets a seat height of 803mm and a ground clearance of 175mm. The Mavrick 440 gets a fuel tank of 13.5 liters, and the alloy wheel variant weighs 187kg kerb.
The Hero Mavrick 440 rivals other neo-retro bikes in the 350-400cc segment.
