Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono 1
Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is the manufacturer’s first single-cylinder motorcycle in 30 years, and it is also the world’s most powerful single cylinder motorcycle.
Ducati India had launched the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono in India at an insane price.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is priced at Rs 16.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The bike is quite expensive as it is coming to India via CBU from Thailand and Italy.
The 698 Mono is powered by a 659cc, liquid-cooled Superquadro Mono single cylinder engine that produces 77.5PS at 9,750rpm and 63Nm at 8,000rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and gets a slipper clutch as standard.
It is built on a tubular steel trellis frame and is suspended on a fully-adjustable 45mm Marzocchi inverted fork and a fully-adjustable Sachs monoshock. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels with 5-spoke Y design at both ends, with Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres. Braking is handled by a 330mm disc up front and a 245mm disc at the rear, with 4-level Bosch cornering ABS as standard. The bike has a wet weight (without fuel) of 151kg, and a wet weight with fuel that is around 159kg.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono gets a 3.8-inch LCD console which offers speed, tachometer readings, time, odometer and tripmeter readouts. The bike also gets 3 power modes: High, Medium and Low. The High and medium power modes offer full 77.5PS of power, but with different throttle responses. The high mode is good for track riding, whereas the medium is more suited to road riding. The low mode restricts the bike’s power output to 58PS and offers a slower throttle response.
The 698 Mono also gets 4 riding modes, Sport, Road, Urban and Wet, along with additional electronic riding aids such as a traction control system, a 4-level wheelie control, Engine Brake Control, and Ducati Power Launch.
The Ducati Hypermotard 698 doesn’t have any natural rivals, but you can go for the Ducati Hypermotard 950 or even the Ducati Monster in the price range.
