Chup: Revenge Of The Artist Review & Full Story

As the name suggests, the story is of revenge. In the very first scene of the film, a film critic is murdered in a very gruesome manner. But at that time there is an atmosphere of fear in the media world, police and common people, when the dreadful process of killing of critics starts. One thing becomes clear that a psychopath is behind these ruthless murders, which has not gone down well with the critics’ reviews of these films. Police officer Arvind Mathur (Sunny Deol) and his team’s needle of suspicion stops by going to all the people who have been affected by the review of this film in some way or the other. Now he can be either a depressed filmmaker, an angry actor or an obsessive film lover. There is also a particular pattern to these killings. The investigation of these murders as well as the sweet nostalgia and love track of Phool Wale Danny (Dulquer Salman) and film journalist Neela (Shreya Dhanwanthary) carry on simultaneously from the beginning of the story. Arvind Mathur enlists the help of his friend and criminal psychologist Zenobia (Pooja Bhatt) to trace the mutilated corpses of the critics and then you have to watch the film to know how the entire team takes the murderer in their clutches.

Chup: Revenge Of The Artist

For the first time in the hundred-year history of cinema, film critics have been made the center of the story. An obsessive man who sets out to silence film critics, believes how his reviews can be enough to change the course of a filmmaker. This R Balki film also seems to take a dig at the rating system, but then they try to justify it through the characters. The first half of the film is very strong, but in the second half, the story proves to be wavering. The main attraction of suspense-thriller films is its suspense and director Balki hastened to reveal it. However, the love story of Dulquer Salmaan and Shreya Dhanwantri proves to be the strong side of the film. The characterization of both the characters is distinctive. Songs like Guru Dutt’s Kaagaz Ke Phool Ke Jaane Ke Tune Kahi, Yeh Duniya Agar Mil Bhi Jaye Kya Hai have been filmed by the director in a very romantic and touching style in the story. Amit Trivedi’s music is soothing to the ears.

Cinematography is a very interesting aspect of the film. Vishal Sinha’s lens makes one remember the scene of a bicycle downhill. The memory and many other images like metaphors and similes that appear in different parts of the film remain. The background score is strong.

Acting

Talking about acting, Dulquer Salmaan proves to be the ace of spades. He has played the double complexion of his role in a very striking way. Sunny Deol has made a strong comeback as Police Officer Arvind Mathur. It is pleasant to see Pooja Bhatt as Zenobia. Shreya Dhanwantri blossoms in the agility and playfulness of her role, but her role has not been developed properly. Tamil actress Saranya Ponavanan as a blind mother in the supporting cast wins hearts. Despite being blind, this mother does not deserve mercy, but is very liberal and self-sufficient. Big B’s different style captivates in the cameo.
